Lights, camera, action! The runway was set as Bridal Fashion Week took over the big apple and our favorite designers showed off their new bridal collections!! We saw a lot of the same trends as the 2017 looks with off the shoulder, capes, deep V’s and color, but we have a new added twist to all these looks! Textured dresses have taken over the runway! The fabrics are intricate and lustrous and give each dress its own unique and dreamy look.
We saw capes make an appearance in last years bridal shows, but now they are everywhere for Fall 2018. This time around we are going for full on royalty! Stunning capes that drape the floor were seen in almost ever designers show. From sheer capes, to embellished capes, this dramatic look is perfect if you want to get that WOW look without the long train or veil. This look is sure to make you queen for the day.
It’s time to find your inner Audrey Hepburn and show off your upmost class with elegant tea length dresses. This length is the perfect to show off a stunning pair of heels and don’t forget the perfect shade of lipstick. In the words of Hepburn herself, “elegance is the only beauty that never fades”.
We have seen a huge increase of dresses with blush and light blue tones, but this year we were introduced to a series of nude colored dresses. This romantic take on your typical white dress is a fun alternative for the not so traditional bride.
For our elegant, sexy brides there are stunning off the shoulder dresses. With these dresses you get that extra skin showing with the strapless look, but you are a little more covered with the detached sleeves. There was such a variety of off the shoulder dresses that made our heart skip a beat!
We are so thrilled to see this whimsical, chic wedding featured on The Knot. With the perfect backdrop of Leo Carrillo Ranch in Carlsbad our lovely couple mixed their fun, classy lifestyle with a bohemian flair inspired by our Bride’s Ukrainian Culture. From an outdoor ceremony, to beautiful hanging lights and a nacho cheese fountain, this wedding was one for the books. We were blessed with a dream team of vendors that helped create the most magical day for our lovely couple. Read more about this wedding on The Knot and check out our Instagram for more fun pictures from this wedding.

Take a weekend getaway with your honey. Maybe there is somewhere that holds a special place in your hearts. Maybe it’s a weekend at Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa or a trip to San Francisco or LA! Airbnb is a great way to find the perfect weekend getaway house! Our challenge for you is: don’t talk about the wedding WHATSOEVER! Celebrate being fiances and the amazing couple that you are 🙂
Calling all brides, there are some new colors trends that we are oh so excited to talk about! Picking the color scheme for your wedding can be challenging, especially because there are so many amazing colors to choose from. Some of our new found favorites are, the neutrals and metallics, greens and blues and blushes. Whether you are going for elegant and classic, rustic, modern or boho, these colors can be molded into your dream wedding.
You may be wondering; how can I incorporate these colors into my wedding without overdoing it? My best advice is to start with four basic elements; attire, stationery, florals and cake. By adding your color scheme to these aspects of your special day, you will be able to see the subtle touches of color and stay romantic and timeless. For those who want to show off even more color and go for a bold look, add the colors to the linens, the chairs and continue to pop them throughout. These details may be in your place setting, drinks, jewelry, linens, favors, etc.
Neutrals & Metallics
Whether you are a fan of gold or silver, you are in luck, because the shimmering touches of mixed metallics are becoming more popular than ever. If you really want the metallics to sparkle on your big day, pair it with a very neutral palette of tan, white, cream and even a light pink. A personal favorite is touches of gray and white marble with an accent of rose gold, truly modern and stunning. A little extra sparkle never hurt anything!
Blues & Blushes
The Pantone colors of 2016 were rose quartz and serenity and they most definitely have not gone out of style. Besides pastel blue, navy has been trending as well. Pairing navy or pastel blue with blush tones or even a pop of coral, is breathtaking and can be used in so many ways at your wedding. Use navy as the anchor to your color palette or opt for it as an accent color against a simple and clean white and neutral shades.
The pantone color of 2017 is greenery!!!! There are so many fun and creative ways to add pops of green to your wedding. Green is a bold color that can really make a statement, so the best way to start incorporating this color is in the four basic aspects I mentioned above. You can use green to accent a rustic theme on a wood table or use it against a white palette for that clean, modern vibe. Make your bouquet stand out with extra greenery or even succulents, add some green details to your invitations and menus, have a long piece of lush greenery as a table runner intermixed with beautiful white and light pink flowers, the options are endless.
To get inspired by these beautiful color schemes take a look at these color inspiration boards put together by The Black Tux!! They have amazing suit and tuxedo rentals that can take your color scheme and wedding vision and bring it to life with the perfect suit! Make sure you check them out to make sure your man is looking as handsome as can be while you say I Do!!!

Daytime – check! Sunset – check! Celestial night time – check and check!
An event full of balloons, nitrogen treats, signature cocktails, an aerial violinist, a silent dance party, carne asada fries and AMAZING talented guests are just a few ways to describe The Knot SoCal Mixer of 2017!
White Lace Events & Design is so honored to plan this event for The Knot for the third year in a row. With the help of our INCREDIBLE dream team of vendors the night was full of laughter, dancing and delicious hearty and playful food. The theme for the night was a movement through time – it was literally “time” to party as we all progressed from one time to day to another!
The event was at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe with four beautiful green lawns that encompassed each time of day for the progressive party. It started with a fun daytime vibe filled with white and marble balloons and a bright pop of yellow, lawn games, cocktails and so much more. As the night went on the party moved to the sunset area with a vibrant array of oranges, reds, pinks and yellows and fun cabanas! The night ended in a dazzling celestial inspired area with a live band and carne asada fries to name a few. Last but not least one of our favorite areas the Silent Dance Party, where we participated and watched vendors literally feel the music through the headphones, kick off their shoes and dance the night away in the silence!!!! We are so thankful to work in an industry filled with such passionate and lovely people.
Getting to design an event with a blank canvas makes our planner hearts skip a beat. We love to let our creativity shine and let our crazy ideas loose once in a while – the best part is that we, ourselves get to let loose a little and enjoy the celebrations with our industry friend-ors as well. An extra big shout out to Hillary from The Knot for putting her trust in us for another amazing event! Take a look at our amazing dream team of vendors below and many photos of the event!!
There’s something magical about every love story and the love story behind White Lace is oh so dear to our hearts.
This story starts at SDSU in an event class that both E & K took in 2009. Although this isn’t a love at first sight kind of story, the ending is as happy as can be. K spotted E from across the room as she was dressed in professional attire carrying her blackberry and truly looked like she could rule the world. From that moment K knew she had to meet this girl, whether she would love her or well, not love her as much as she was dreaming she would. E was such a presence in this event class, she was so knowledgeable (even correcting the professor sometimes) and busy with her various events she deserved a gold star. E was working at Qualcomm and stayed very busy and their paths never crossed during the class.
Meanwhile, K had gotten a job at L’Auberge Del Mar as the wedding coordinator, where her love for weddings grew even more. A position opened up for a new wedding coordinator at the hotel and K eagerly awaited who it would be. Her boss was so excited about the new hire (she was literally running circles around the office with excitement) so K couldn’t wait to meet her. As K was walking through the lobby one day she spotted E with her boss. She knew immediately she recognized her and was almost certain it was the girl from her events class. K never had a chance to meet E since their class in 2009, but in 2013 the universe brought these two lovely people together. Let’s just say their first time meeting wasn’t full of hugs and kisses, a personal White Lace favorite (xoxo). E was focused on learning her new position and K was juggling tons of weddings. When K first told E that she knew her, well a lot about her, she may have come off slightly like a “crazy person” or a stalker to be a little more polite, considering E never even knew K was in the same class as her. E felt terrible and even now, they laugh about their first true interaction. From that moment on, they worked together in one very small office and there was no getting rid of each other — friendship was the only way. They started working closer and growing the weddings program at L’Auburge… as soon as they did one wedding together it was clear that K was right from the beginning, they were meant to be best friends and they were a force to be reckoned with.
Both E & K knew they wanted to eventually have their own wedding companies, but E was certain she would only do it with a business partner. When E approached K about the possibility of being business partners, she was immediately shut down by K who said she did not want a business partner. “Nope, never” said K. As the days, weeks and months went on E & K grew closer and closer and their relationship went from co-workers to friends and eventually from friends to best friends. Together their creative, genius minds complemented each other perfectly and everyone around them were waiting for them to branch off and have their own company. The universe works in a strange way, but one thing was for certain, E & K were supposed to meet. As I’m sure you have guessed by now this beautiful business idea came to life when K finally decided she that E was the only person in the world that she would be business partners with… and so the love story continued.
With a blink of an eye and a pinch of sparkly pixie dust, White Lace Events & Design came to life and E & K moved from being best friends to being family. This idea of being business partners came with many risks and a lot of uncertainty, but one thing they knew for certain was that their love for wedding planning and their love for each other was enough to keep them going. It’s crazy to think that White Lace is approaching their three-year anniversary and have grown so much over the years! Let’s just say E & K had their happily ever after and it is as magical and wonderful as they could have ever imagined.
And now the story continues …. I am so excited to be part of the wedding planning company and journey of White Lace Events and Design. Just you wait, I have a special love story of my own with these lovely ladies …
Social Media. Full stop. We love and hate it at the same time, and it keeps everyone connected from celebrity gossip to everyday connections from past, present and even connects friends for the future. It is truly amazing that over the years social media has become an extension of how we all celebrate, share, and stay connected.
Let’s take a moment to see how this all relates to YOUR wedding and how you can incorporate some fun social media elements into your day:
Create a website: This is a unique way to keep guests informed with wedding day or wedding weekend information (ie. accommodations, registries, photos, etc.) or any last minute changes. Let your guests “virtually get to know you” with fun photos and memories of your lives together.”
Create a Facebook group for your wedding that is “invite only” if you want to get information quickly to your guests so they can see updates, changes and any new information that may come up. This is also a fun area to share engagement photos, and post exciting updates throughout the planning!
Create a Hashtag: we #love this idea! Come up with something creative that represents you as a couple, then tell your guests and display signs the day of your wedding. All your guests can hashtag their photos from the wedding and then as a couple you can go back, click on the hashtag and see all the fun memories from your special day!Side note: White Lace recommends to check the hashtag first to see if anyone has used it for their wedding. You want your hashtag to be special to you and if possible only show photos of your day and not mix it up with another wedding couple’s hashtag. This is simply social media etiquette as well.
Instagram Stories: Almost like Snapchat, Instagram stories lets you post pictures for 24 hours for all your followers to see! Let your guests post videos and pictures during the reception that you can look back on it the next day!
Use a Snapchat Geofilter: You can create a geofilter that can be accessed on snapchat on the day of your wedding. It does come with a small price tag initially, but it is a fun way to add something fun and creative to your big day! If you don’t think of yourself as the savvy creative one, then you can use premade wedding snapchat filters. Or this can be your time to share your graphic design skills and you can create your own to make it more personalized. You can find the guidelines here!
How much is too much? Well, one, don’t forget that it is okay to have a social media free wedding, but guests love to access information or share photos quickly and efficiently. The most important thing is that this is your big day, so it is up to you to decide how much is too much. As a couple set your “social media boundaries”. This can include:
Not letting the Bridal Party share pictures of you before the ceremony
Having an “unplugged” ceremony where you ask your guests not to take photos and to please turn off their phones. This allows everyone to be in the moment with you and enjoy the ceremony and the meaning behind each element. You can have a sign and/or ask the officiant to make an announcement prior to the ceremony.
Reminding guests that there is a photographer, so they stay clear and let the professional capture the magic.
Not releasing the snapchat filter until the ceremony has ended
It is amazing how all the social media sites can help create a wonderful wedding experience for you and your guests from the start of the planning to the conclusion of your wedding day! Also, don’t forget to enjoy your wedding day and to soak it all in! You can use social media to look back on all the special moments so that you can stay away from your phone and enjoy being surrounded by love.
White Lace is so excited that one of their own lovely ladies is studying abroad! Jessa, our White Lace “lovee”, as we call her, is our beautiful, talented White Lace wedding party assistant. It is no secret that she is a tremendous part of our day-of team. We miss her greatly and it has been so exciting to continue following her Instagram from afar as she continues to blossom into the passionate and savvy woman she has become.
We asked Jessa to write us a blog of her travels so far and how she has become invigorated with all the history and true wonder around her. Get cozy with a coffee or take a sip of some rose wine and enjoy!
“As I sit amongst the beautiful views of Florence, Italy I can’t help but be inspired by the beautiful buildings and colors that enrich this city. Being in place so far from San Diego has opened my eyes to a world full of new trends and endless ideas. As an aspiring wedding planner, everything I look at sparks my creativity and desire to want to create magical new designs. The small, but beautiful details on every building in this city mesmerize me. As I have learned throughout my time at White Lace, it is all in the details and those small details is what sets a wedding above and beyond and is what will stick with you forever. I witnessed a wedding happen on top of the Piazzale Michelangelo, a view overlooking all of Florence and couldn’t help but stare at the beauty that this couple’s photographer was about to capture. These picture perfect moments are what makes my passion for wedding planning grow each and every day. Although I miss my days of being a bridal assistant, having the ability to travel the world and experience the art, design and culture of so many amazing countries and cities is amazing.
Each country and each city is filled with new culture, colors, people and food that have helped expand my knowledge and ability to adapt to different environments. I can’t wait to bring this new perspective on life to San Diego. Looking at the dull pastel buildings in Florence one day and the bright colorful buildings in Burano and then the gold, white and modern vibe that fills the Galleria in Milan have taught me that although all these cities are all in Italy, each contributes something new to the country. Just like a wedding, every couple is different, every venue is different and you have to be able to adapt to the changes as if you are a world traveler. The experiences I have made so far here in Italy has made me even more excited to be back in San Diego with White Lace making wedding magic happen.
As she travels abroad, we continue to get the most amazing emails from her telling us about her travels, her new inspirations and overall celebration for everything that our incredible industry has to offer. Weddings are everywhere and with so many different traditions, formalities and styles, it is amazing to see that they all have something in common – a ceremony with two people in love and ready to spend the rest of their lives together. We have some fun things setup for her when she is back in sunny Cali, but for now, Ciao!
Weddings are a time of joy, happiness, excitement and more. At the same time weddings can be stressful, emotional, crazy and downright a pain in the butt! My name is Amber and I recently got married to the love of my life, Sean. We decided to have our wedding at the beautiful Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California. When I first got engaged, I was so happy and over the moon with excitement. I remember the morning after we got engaged; I woke up at 5am and didn’t go back to sleep because I was so excited to tell everyone of our engagement. After the initial excitement dissipated, then reality set in and quickly I was overwhelmed with this sense of impending doom as I knew I had so much to plan and so much to do!
We kicked things off with a gorgeous engagement party in December, and then followed by an amazing Chanel themed bridal shower in July and an incredibly silly and fun bachelorette party in August. It was all so fun and amazing to experience. However, after planning basically three different parties, I was exhausted to say the least. I realized quickly that for the wedding I was going to need reinforcements. I started looking online for wedding planners and then asked Julie at the Omni La Costa, if she knew of anyone they recommended. She gave me several names, one of which was the White Lace Events.
I reached out to several companies, and the first to get back to me was the White Lace Events girls. From the moment these girls reached out to me to the very last goodbye they were on top of their game. Krissie was the first to contact me and everything she said was exactly what I was looking for. At this point in the wedding process, I was exhausted to say the least and I needed people who knew what to do and where to go. The White Lace Event gals knew exactly that. When you are about one month out from your wedding is when the real crunch time occurs and everyone starts asking you a million questions! You get pulled in all sorts of directions and you just want to pass the work off on someone else because you become too tired to even answer and that is when these ladies can step in.
The day of my actual wedding everything was such a blur. For someone who is normally super emotional and cries at everyone else’s weddings, I hardly shed a tear. I think I was so overwhelmed by everything, that it all just became surreal. Almost, like I was watching someone else get married. Krissie and Liz, helped me from the beginning to the end. From the time I put on my gorgeous Monique Lhuillier dress, to seeing my bouquet for the first time, these ladies were there.
Right before I walked outside to proceed down the stairs for my ceremony, I did finally have a moment where all my emotions hit me like a ton of bricks. I didn’t know if I should cry, faint, laugh; it was all so much. That was when Krissie looked over at me and asked, “Have you smelt your bouquet yet?” I kind of looked at her with a funny look on my face and then said, “No?” She responded and told me to take a moment to smell my flowers and for whatever reason this immediately made me feel calmer and reassured me that everything was going to be ok! After that, our entire wedding went off without a hitch. We enjoyed dancing, eating and just having a great time with friends and family. The ladies were even there when my dress kept getting snagged on the dance floor to help pin it up some more. So if you are looking for a wedding planner or you just need help with the whole wedding process and don’t know where to begin, then these are your ladies! Thank you again girls for all your help and continued support throughout an exciting, emotional overly stressful and yet super fun process!!

Plunging V necks, off the shoulder dresses, capes, a pop of color and an abundance of floral details describes just some of the magnificent dresses seen at the Spring 2017 Bridal Fashion Week. Sexy is the new black, with plunging V necks in almost every collection accompanied by a soft elegance to create some of the most unique and flawless dresses the wedding world has ever seen. For brides who love to stray from traditional, Spring 2017 is your year!!!
Color, color and more color!!!
The pastels are in and you can see these colors mixed within the dresses for an extra dramatic flare. Touches of the Pantone colors serenity and rose quartz are being incorporated in bridal dresses to add that fun pop of color. The two traditional elements that are staying in trend are long trains and veils. There is something about the tradition that comes with a veil and train that will forever be part of the bridal dress — it screams magic and tradition and we love it!
If you aren’t a fan of wearing color in your wedding dress, do not worry, you can incorporate the pastels into bridesmaid’s dresses and décor. One of the most fun touches we are going to see in Spring is the endless bows. Dramatic bows on the shoulder or back of the dress add to the overall vibe of spring. It brings a softer, fun and playful vibe to the dress, but also gives a dramatic appeal to the eye. My personal favorite trend is the 3D floral that is added to the dresses. This add dimension to the dresses and takes bridal to the next level. Why just have flowers as décor when you can also add it to your dress. Spring 2017 bridal dresses have us saying WOW and we cannot wait to see what all of our Spring 2017 brides walk down the aisle in. Make sure you check out White Lace’s Spring 2017 Bridal Dresses board for more fun looks hat are coming into trend this Spring.

So, lets just take a moment to chat about the Knot Party that we all celebrated … it was pretty wonderful, to say the least!
Custom Sunglasses, a perfect venue, amazing food, a program that doubled as a coloring book, and a live band are just a few of the fun pieces of Knot Party San Diego puzzle. That was just the beginning of the many ways to describe the #theknotrockssandiego party that took place on June 21st! White Lace is so honored to have designed and planned this lovely event for the second year in a row and we loved that it was even bigger and better than what we imagined!!
The San Diego Harbor was a backdrop for the event and we added a mix of navy and white décor, with a few splashes of pinks, purples and blues. The night took on a very fitting, and unique nautical theme and the music brought everything to life. We added a dash of extra fun with the Red Photo Booth team, refreshing snow cones, delicious desserts, stunning flowers and beautiful rentals that all guests could enjoy. To top the night off we had a fabulous photographer and cinematographer to capture all the beautiful details and memories made so that we can relive this special night!
Teaming up with Hillary from The Knot was so beyond amazing and “cute”; we were given a blank canvas for the event and we got to play with the amazing and creative minds of our industry. We are so thankful The Knot gave us the opportunity to create a dream team of vendors to put on what we would like to call, the party of the year!
We had a DREAM TEAM of vendors who helped make this party, well… one for the books. Take a look at all the vendors who made our event ever so fabulous!! (see below)
Have you ever really thought about how much time your vendors will spend on your wedding from start to finish? From your full service wedding planner, to the photographer, videographer, DJ, florist, band etc. the hours really add up!! The real question is which vendor do you spend the most time with?
Let’s take a look below to see an approximate amount of time each vendor spends working and celebrating with each couple throughout the wedding planning, wedding day and post wedding.
Hiring a wedding planner is a luxury expense but it is definitely something that every couple should at least consider. Assuming you booked a full service wedding planner, you can see that the amount of time they spend on your wedding and the cost of their services is absolutely worth it. You will have an advocate and a professional with you every step of the way – vendor meetings, phone calls, text messages, and behind the scenes emails with your vendors so you don’t have to think about the nitty gritty details that eat away at your fun planning time. We have you covered to create the best planning experience possible! Our goal is that you are smiling, laughing and holding hands every wedding planning step of the way.
At White Lace we are not only here to alleviate the stress and ensure every detail is covered but we want to create the best wedding for YOU! We guide you to build a wedding dream team and celebrate with you every step of the way. You aren’t just paying for a wedding planner … you are paying for an experience and most importantly a support system.
We want all of our couples to understand that yes, hiring a wedding planner might be a bit pricy, but the time and energy that we put into a full service wedding will make it all worth it. We promise to bring our smiles, professionalism and excitement to your wedding! Contact us for information on our various wedding planning packages and find the perfect fit for your special day.
… it is our true love and passion to celebrate with you!
Xoxo, Jessa Davis

p.s. stay tuned for next week’s blog about the additional vendors listed – it is SO surprising how much time each vendor and their team spends on an average wedding.
Have you ever heard the saying “Never let anyone dull your sparkle”? Well, at White Lace we will definitely help you bring out your inner sparkle and that’s what makes us so fun! Creators and owners of White Lace, E & K have worked incredibly hard to make sure every couple that celebrates with us has an experience like no other. We want to help turn every couple’s “Pinterest dreams” into a reality. The bright and bubbly personalities of E & K bring a fun and energetic vibe to the planning of your special day. We combine our professionalism with fun to help make all your wedding dreams come true.
E & K are in love with love and put their all into every couple that celebrates with us. Their passion is undeniable and it truly shines through their amazing work. “We love to put priority on what is most important to our couples and not only focus on their love one another but their common interests as well. Whether that be design, entertainment or a delicious meal, we love to celebrate what gets them most excited for the big celebrations ahead”, exclaims E & K.
Here are just a few things we do at White Lace that make us so unique and fun…
On our website, you will see we do not have packages and prices listed. This is not because we simply forgot to provide this information, it is because we make a package that fits each couples needs. We want every couple to feel like they have found their home at White Lace and can work from the ground up to create a wonderful wedding day.
On your wedding day we have team members (like myself) that help make your wedding day run smoothly. Our team members help look over the little details, ceremony, cocktail and reception area so that E & K can spend their time focused on the bride, groom and the bridal party. There are even times when you can have a bridal assistant (like me, again) to help you (the couple) to have a stress free, fun wedding day. You can count on me to pour you a nice glass of bubbly while your hair and makeup team brushes, curls, powders and makes your eyelashes pop.
We prepare a timeline of your wedding day to ensure everything runs on time. This timeline is also given to all the vendors so everyone is on the same page and the wedding goes off without a hitch. GO TEAM!!
Here at White Lace there are no “clients” because we treat our couples like family and build a strong, trustworthy relationship with them to make sure we really get a feel for what each couple wants on their big day!
“We find that our approach is a mix of professional and fun. We say professional because we absolutely know what we are talking about … most of the time. Our experience, expertise and true passion for this amazing industry is infinite and we love to not only relate to our couples but make sure that they feel most comfortable with us and trust us to translate their ideas into a reality. It is pretty incredible and absolutely magical in every sense of the word.” E & K could not have said it any better, wedding planning is magical, fun and full of surprises. White Lace Events & Design is truly one of a kind and I feel honored to work with such passionate, fun and loving people. They never let my inner sparkle dull, if anything they make it sparkle even more than it did before.
Bringing the calmer, pastel tones into your big day will provide a soothing, fun environment that is stress free and overall AMAZING! This year Pantone came out with TWO, yes two, colors for Spring 2016; they are Rose Quartz and Serenity (blue). The real question is how these colors can be paired together to make your perfect day sparkle and shine? We are ready to give you a few ideas and fun ways to incorporate them into your overall feel and theme of your wedding:
You can use these colors separately or even together to enhance the overall look of your wedding, by bringing the warmer embracing rose tones with the cooler tranquil blues!

Well, it has been far too long since White Lace Events & Design has written a blog. We have been recently inspired by all the amazing couples coming our way. Some have just secured their venue, while others are still searching for that “oh so perfect” dream wedding venue. It is so important to get this piece just right and it should feel amazing!
The venue is the foundation for the wedding day and it can be looked at as a blank canvas in the beginning. We will help you with the perfect palette and the splashes of amazingness (is that a word…) to make your wedding completely represent you. Don’t forget that a wedding truly should reflect you as a couple—you are why everyone is traveling from afar to celebrate and raise their hands in the air for your lifetime of love and matrimony. Let’s make it picture perfect and absolutely stunning!
As planners, it is so exciting to begin these new adventures and build new relationships with our couples and their families. We will breakdown the best way to select a venue and offer suggestions that you may not have thought of. We ask questions to help understand your wedding day vision and feel. Do you want formal, casual, fun, edgy, rustic, black tie, etc.? What do you want your guests to walk away saying? A wedding in a school or a library … “it was so unique and amazing!” or “it was simply stunning and the food was incredibl-e!” These are just a few of the questions you should be asking yourself as you peruse the venues.
Each couple has a unique journey to selecting their wedding day venue. Some have known about their wedding venue since they were in kindergarten on family vacations, others select a venue that is meaningful to them as a couple and others have never thought about it. When searching there are some things that you may want to think about:
What does the venue offer? (all rentals, just the space, rooms for guests to stay, etc.)
If it is a destination wedding, are there enough local accommodations at different price points? Do you need to consider transportation for your guests? How many days do you want the celebration to last for (welcome reception, rehearsal, wedding day and farewell brunch?)
We know…so many things to think about. The great thing is that we are here to help you breakdown each step. We can offer suggestions for specific venues and put you in contact with the best of the best within a range of budgets. San Diego has a plethora of beautiful and unique options…there is no better place to start!
Elegant, stunning and colorful – this wedding had it all. The beautiful wedding party, the dress of a lifetime, the church and the seaside, sunset romance at L’Auberge Del Mar.
The bride, walked down the aisle in a delicate lace dress that was neck high and strikingly placed on her back; vintage looking, with a modern twist and yet, timeless. The groom wore a soft grey suite and a blue tie that mimicked the bride’s ocean blue eyes. Their ceremony made us swoon and teary eyed the entire way through …
The reception began and the ballroom was decked out with the most delicious desserts! Did we mention that we LOVE when a couple LOVES dessert (it’s a White Lace fave!)?! Fun music, endless cocktails, lounge furniture, and edible magic: cakes, brownies, macaroons, cupcakes, cookies, donuts, cronuts and milkbar cake truffles. Mouth watering yumminess. You name it, it was there!
This marathon running, scuba diving and ironman couple loved everything wonderful; it was true dessert bliss. Guests popped out the lenses of their brightly colored quoted sunglasses, bejeweled themselves with glow-in-the-dark necklaces and celebrated with handstands to the newlyweds. Cheers to our White Lace Events & Design newlyweds, Mr. & Mrs. Marissa and Matt!
Take a sneak peak of their amazing photos by Clove and Kin below.
As today marks the first day of a new year, it is a time to look back upon the previous 365 days to reflect, possibly make resolutions we may or may not keep and focus on looking forward to the future. As Krissie so graciously shared her love story, it feels only right that I (Elizabeth) share my love story with my wonderful husband, as 2015 marks 14 years (yep you read that right) 14 years together! The story begins in a small town, where two high school students met on an educational trip to Europe. Obviously we met and fell in love, however there are a few more fun details to this story. After spending time together on long bus rides, sharing a drink in the local pubs, and seeing some pretty incredible sights we were fortunate that already we created many fun memories together; and one hilarious photo that I felt the need to share with all of you! I mean braids and puka shells… what was I thinking?!? One piece of our story that feels like a scene out of a bad romcom is as follows. We had planned to meet atop the Eifel Tower… I got carried away in Paris and well, forgot to meet him… (cue the guards telling him, sorry poor American boy, your girl isn’t coming). Luckily we can laugh about it now, needless to say Paris is not Matt’s favorite city. When we returned home our love story continued to unfold, although funny enough I was informed by a friend’s mother that we were dating. I believe her exact words were “Who is the lucky girl dating Matt Galloway?” well, that lucky girl was indeed me!
We enjoyed a few more years together in our small home town and then it was time to go away to college. I ventured to Arizona (Bear Down Wildcats!) and Matt journeyed to Santa Barbara, exactly 592 miles apart. Many long distance phone calls and frequent Southwest flights later the 4 years passed by and we were reunited in not only the same city, but same apartment! Hello San Diego! After 10 years, Matt asked me the one question I was waiting for (and so were all of our family and friends) and in the summer of 2011 we tied the knot!
You may be wondering why I am sharing our love story today- as this is not our anniversary. I am sharing this story because as a new year begins it is time to reflect. I couldn’t imagine my life without this wonderful person. Each year we spend together brings about new and exciting memories. The White Lace Events & Design team hopes you and your loved ones had a wonderful 2014 and are looking forward to a fun filled 2015! As wedding planners obviously Krissie and I love a good love story, and look forward to celebrating your story this coming year! XO E
It is always fun to read articles about weddings, projects, trends and advice (well, at least as wedding planners). Yet, we find it is interesting when we read an article that doesn’t seem to be completely correct. As in, we read and continue saying in our heads “yeah…no” and “I don’t think that is the case” or “is that really what they are telling brides?”.
Today, we stumbled on an article that was published in the Huffington Post and we were amazed by the “5 Wedding Details Your Guests Won’t Notice At All (So Skip ‘Em!)”. Exclamation mark and all! Now, we understand if a couple are on a budget, these details are typically the first to be reduced or removed completely. However, if budget allows and these five details are present, then your guests will notice them. You will notice them. The publications and blogs that you want to publish your wedding on … will notice them. Prior to adding further commentary, let us share the five details that “your guests won’t notice or remember” according to this article:
3. A Full Premium Bar
4. Luxe Table Linens
5. Exotic Or Out Of Season Flowers
We don’t disagree that some of these details are just that. Details. However, they absolutely make an impact and can make the difference between a good wedding and a great one. They connect the design pieces and create a thread of harmony from one piece to another. Especially, if your end goal is to get your wedding published in print or on a wedding blog. As an example, let’s look closer at 1. & 4. China and Luxe Table Linens — The china, glassware, silverware, etc, can be an add-on to your centerpiece. This may be an area where you pull in golds, yellows, patterns, etc. Each table and each place setting becomes an art piece and is then further adorned with a menu and/or a place card. China and linens are the foundation of that.
Take a look at the article and let us know what you think 🙂
White Lace Events & Design loves that December brings so much joy, celebration and overall LOVE! Snuggles by the fire, pictures by the tree and kisses under the mistletoe. It is also this time where a lot of relationships begin or take an incredible leap into the next step in their relationship. It is clear when you go on facebook or instagram and see all the photos of beautiful hands newly adorned with a sparkly representation of forever love. Engagements are just so much fun to follow and celebrate with couples every step of the way.
Eight years ago today my “dream boy” officially became a heart skipping boyfriend. You may be wondering … I thought you were married? Yes, yes I am. My incredible husband had to begin to somewhere. It all began 8 years ago when we officially became “boyfriend” and “girlfriend” on a big comfy bean bag watching Hitch. His heart started beating quite rapidly and I knew something was going to happen; fingers crossed, he was going to ask me to be his girlfriend. While I was crossing my fingers, I started to think of the ways that it may happen:
– Will it be on a piece of paper like elementary school? Will you be my girlfriend? Check the box YES or NO.
– Will he stand up, take my hand, and walk me out to the gazebo and start singing “I am 15 going on 16” while I frolic from one step to another?
*shakes head, no…we don’t have a gazebo.
As I began thinking of the next ridiculous way he could ask me, he paused the movie, turned to me and asked the question. YES!! YES!! From there, the rest is history. I laugh now thinking back to that bean bag in the middle of my parents living room…(*smile)
Me, being the hopeless romantic, still celebrate this date because it is a special stepping stone in our lives and where it all began. Never forget to celebrate the little and the big things in life. Life is so busy and moves so quickly . My advice for you is to never forget the three C’s: Celebrate, Cherish and Challenge.
Celebrate: celebrate and enjoy the little things (and the big things too). Promotion, fitness challenge, life steps or even just a cozy morning/night together. Celebrate it!
Cherish: no matter what, cherish each moment together and with family. Adore and protect the ones you love.
Challenge: don’t forget to challenge each other, as well as yourself. With challenge comes celebration 🙂
Let’s be honest, it is also another reason to open a cold and delicious sparkling bottle of champagne. We love how this time of year brings everyone together!!
We are so excited to be featured on 100 Layer Cake! It is such an honor to be featured and we are so thrilled to see that our Southern California bride and groom are officially “famous”! The romantic dress, the incredible floral by Sweet Marie Designs and the edible masterpiece created by Hey, There Cupcake— brilliant! The day was captured amazingly by the one and only, Shane and Lauren Photography and we have swooned over every detail that they captured!
This power couple created a day of beauty with the timeless color palette of navy blue, gold, greens and ivories. It was an elegant soiree with handmade bridesmaid dresses, Jimmy Choo heals and an interactive cracker festivity to begin dinner. At one point, the bride wore a fabulous sticker mustache that was gifted to her by english tradition, cracker prize that she received. All we can say, is that we have loved every moment of celebrating with this couple, smiled through every photo click and danced with excitement when we heard that they were getting published! We are truly honored to have been part of the execution of this special wedding and couldn’t be happier to celebrate by their side!
One of the best parts of our job is working with amazing couples to plan a truly remarkable wedding experience. I (Elizabeth) say experience because a wedding is more than a ceremony, cake and dancing, it is family and friends coming together to celebrate true love. In the case of Dana and Chuck there was so much celebration of love my heart is still melting! Just to be clear, Chuck’s given name is Robert, however I have known him as Chuck since I met Dana, hence we will reference him as Chuck moving forward. 🙂
Dana and Chuck are a very special couple to White Lace Events & Design for many reasons. Reason #1, Dana and I are friends, we met at a previous job and she is simply wonderful! When Chuck popped the question she called me and said… “gee, I wish you could plan my wedding” (not an exact quote, I don’t think she used the word gee, but you get the gist) which leads me to point #2. They were our official first White Lace Events & Design couple! Krissie and I were in the process of building the business when Dana called me, we knew we were ready to jump out on our own, and Dana and Chuck helped move us along. Point #3, they are just so adorable!
There is so much awesomeness to share about their wedding, but I will simply touch on highlights otherwise this blog post will be a mile long. So here are the facts. Halloween wedding rehearsal- yep costumes and all! Our bride and groom were the Cookie Monster and a cookie… still makes me smile! Amazing venue- The Lodge at Sea Ranch. Chuck has a family house in this Northern California gem and even proposed to Dana there, it is a no brainer this was going to be their wedding destination. Picture a boutique 19 room lodge, rolling green hills, waves crashing along the rocky Sonoma Coast and just the most amazing ocean view you have even seen, and then multiply that by 100… that is The Lodge at Sea Ranch! Amazing dress- Dana wore a stunning Nicole Miller lace gown, just to die for with a fabulous floral crown, garden inspired and so chic. The Bridesmaids wore stunning BHLDN dresses, the gentleman in killer suits and all in SOLO sunglasses to bout (Dana is one of the founding members of SOLO Eyewear from her days at SDSU) just perfection! The décor was made with love in every way. Dana is a graphic designer so naturally she made the invitation and menus perfect for the occasion. The florals were freshly picked wildflowers from the Sonoma Coast in hand crafted wooden boxes with glass milk bottles, eclectic jars and candles with brass tags for table numbers creating the ultimate dining experience. Add a touch of rustic burlap and elegant lace with plum colored napkins, adorable “pun” dessert forks with sayings like, “love at first bite” and there you have the table scape. Dana and Chuck also grew their own succulent escort cards that they nurtured with love for their guests to keep as a wedding memento- amazing!
The ceremony and cocktail hour overlooked the magnificent ocean leaving their guests breathless! As an homage to Chuck, Dana made the programs into paper airplanes to tribute one of Chuck’s past times, being a pilot. Creative and special to their relationship. As I said I could go on and on, but you will have to keep an eye out for more… this wedding was too special to keep to ourselves. 🙂
To close, I will focus on one last element of fabulous… are you ready for it? They did a grand BUBBLE exit that is by far the best bubble exit we have ever seen. Captured by the one and only David Manning, they left their wedding in style! We simply cannot say enough wonderful things about this amazing couple. We wish our friends a lifetime of love and happiness!
If you follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter you may have heard we are having a party…an awesome party. White Lace Events & Design has been in development for quite some time, and we have been active in the event community as planners and designers however we needed a launch date. As this is our inaugural year we wanted a date that each year we can celebrate with friends, family, clients and our favorite San Diego vendors and December 10th is that date! Mark it on your calendars, bring a friend, and your bow ties and dancing shoes to celebrate a great year!
In case that wasn’t enticing enough add craft beer, amazing entertainment, knock out florals, delicious food and desserts, San Diego’s best photo booth and stunning paper products all captured by awesome photographers and that is December 10th for White Lace Events & Design!
There are times that present themselves and you get to stand up and talk about what you are most passionate about. For us, that is White Lace Events & Design, our dream turned into a hardworking reality.
We are so fortunate that we were given an incredible opportunity to be guest speakers at San Diego State University Hospitality Meeting and Events classes. Eyes focused, laptops opened and ready … *deep breath. Here we go.
So first things first, I (aka, Krissie Simek) am not a public speaker, my partner in everything beautiful (aka, Elizabeth Galloway) is. It is pretty incredible to see our strengths shine, especially at times like these, because this is one of her callings and she is OUTRAGEOUSLY amazing at it! In turn, she pushes me to step out of my comfort zone and do things like this, public speaking. Sheer terror…BUT I did it… and by the second class, it almost felt natural.
There were two things that amazed me during the day at SDSU. One is that within only a short time span of being small business owners, we were standing, talking, and presenting what we do best—wedding and event planning and design. Our website was big, bright, and took center stage in our presentation. It was like our medal of honor that we so proudly showed to these students. Little did they know the months, hours, color matching, editing, and building that it took to create our masterpiece… I digress. Two, we were the faces that we always wanted to look up to, presenting the dream of wedding planning (*well, at least for the girl that quite literally skipped into the class once she remembered what that days topic was about). Elizabeth and I didn’t have that, we didn’t have the opportunity to hear people realistically talk about the event planning world and what it truly entails, what it means and how it is done. All of a sudden, we were the mentors and we were the people sharing the dream.
Elizabeth took the class by storm, sharing her journey and the excitement of the future. I smiled, sharing my own story, jumping in here and there, all the while navigating our website on the big, bright screen as we transitioned from one topic to another. A true team, similar, different, and awesome in every way. We later went to lunch with a very special group of students, who asked great questions and shared their own stories, as well as their aspirations for the future. How lucky were we to hear their stories and what they plan to do… again, incredible! How did we get to this point?!
Now, we have a remarkable amount of students emailing us for the opportunity to assist and join us on our White Lace Events & Design wedding days. We cannot wait to meet and chat with each and every one of them to build our White Lace E&D team. Thank you to Stephanie Dathe and the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program at SDSU. So thankful and so grateful for the opportunity and hope for many more!
Elizabeth and I are incredibly thrilled with the overwhelming support for White Lace Events & Design that we just experienced over facebook! Thank you so much for your support in the promotion and unveiling of our biggest secret to date!
Make sure to save the date for our unveiling party on December 10th! More information to come!
For now, we celebrate through the love on facebook!
We are so excited to officially be part of the Ceremony Magazine family! Today, we were published on their blog as a featured vendor. http://www.ceremonyblog.com/localvendors/san-diego/coordinators/whitelace/
